Until the Sun Falls from the Sky

Until the Sun Falls from the Sky - Kristen Ashley Kristen Ashley books are either a hit or a miss for me. This one was a miss. For one thing only- LEAH!

The book had amazing world building in a way that only Ashley can write and it was really good. I absolutely loved Lucien and the entire paranormal structure. The concubine lifestyle was described elaborately and in a way that blended and flowed with the entire story beautifully. A definite amazing background for a potentially amazing story.

Until of course, Leah....oh boy....

Her character in the story is a 40 year old woman. 40 fucking years and the way she behaved i thought she was 14. Her amazing "scent" that drew Lucien to her was a figure often used in vampire novels and i found that believable. Her situation in witch she found herself (not knowing much about vampire culture and being set up by her ambitious family as a snack to the Fanged Grand Poobah) brought out Leah's in my opinion justified rage. I was riveted.....

Then as the story progressed and certain things got clarified, Leah's behavior took a header. She was persistent in her defiance, mostly described in cheesy one liners that for some reason Lucien found hilarious. I found them annoying. Her character had some very good highlights but in the end she lacked maturity. She pouted, stomped her feet, and did all those things that should make her endearing but just didn't.

Bubblegum blonde.... That's the perfect description of Leah in my mind. One of those girls that are not mean in any way but just tire you out by talking and constantly over-dramatizing when the situation calls for it or not. That was the reason it took me two days to finish this book. I took it in in pieces but i really wanted to finish it since i have higher hopes for the book two in series....
